Cabinet painting is gaining in popularity for a few reasons. The quality of the paints and primers needed to complete this job have gotten very good. Stained cabinets that were once the trendy design idea has now given way to a timeless white look. And the biggest reason to paint your cabinets versus replacing them is because it is far more inexpensive!
To begin the process we always remove all cabinet hardware. This insures a cleaner look and its easier to apply the primers and paint without any obstructions. We then clean off all the cabinets of any grime that has built up. Next is the most important part. We sand all the cabinets down to make sure the prime coat bonds perfectly to the cabinets.
Once all the cabinets have been sanded and prepped its time to apply the primer. The primer is not something we cheap out on because it is the most important part of the process. Once the primer is on we let this cure until the next day.
Its time for the top coat! To ensure a durable topcoat we will only paint with the best, most recommended paints for the job. Two coats spaced 24 hours apart from each other will leave your cabinets looking amazing!
Once the top coats have fully dried we re install the cabinet hardware and put the doors and drawer fronts back up making sure every door is perfectly aligned with the one next to it. At this point it is up to you, the customer, to take care of them. If you need to wash them off we recommend trying just warm water and a soft sponge. If this does not work you can try adding a little dish soap. The before and after pictures of cabinet painting are breathtaking!
