Do you think you have made every home improvement project in your house? What about the garage and basement floors? A concrete epoxy floor is the next biggest trend thats taking over and is sure to be a head turner!
Do you want your concrete floor in your garage or basement to have a little bit more pop then normal? An epoxy coating is what you need! The process is simplier than most customers think. We do a moisture test on the concrete at time of the estimate to be sure this is something that can work on your concrete. If all is looking good we ask that the customer move most everything off the concrete floor ahead of time. We can certainly help move some of the bigger, heavier items.
Day one is all about surface prep! We apply degreasers to the floor to make sure any grease and oil is properly removed. We then apply an etching solution to open up the pores of the concrete. This make for a better bond. We then hose down the concrete floor and squeegee out the excess water and let it dry out for 1-3 days depending on weather.
After the floor has been prepped and has dried out we fix any noticeable cracks that the customer wants us to fix and let those dry. We apply a 2 part epoxy that comes in a few different colors and at this time we can also apply multi colored paint chips in a couple different thicknesses or we can leave it as a solid color look.
The very next day we come back out and start the finishing process. We vacuum up any paint chips that didnt dry into the epoxy coating and then start the clear coats. We recommend atleast 2 coats of the clearcoat but have done as much as 4 coats of this. Just like that the floor is don and now its up to the customer to allow it to dry in properly. We recommend 7 days of no parking cars on it or moving heavy items onto it. If you can manage 10 days of only foot traffic that is ideal. We also recommend buying floor protectors for each tire of your car because in the summer these generate very high heat. These epoxy floors look great and what better way to revive a boring concrete floor?
